DEA Continues Medical Marijuana Raids One Week After Obama AG Signaled They Were History

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) ―

DEA agents raided Emmalyn's California Cannabis Clinic on Howard Street in San Francisco on Wednesday.

One week after President Barack Obama's top law enforcement official seemed to indicate the feds would no longer raid pot clubs, DEA agents busted a medical marijuana facility in San Francisco Wednesday night.

As agents carried large plastic containers of marijuana plants out of Emmalyn's California Cannabis Clinic at 1597 Howard Street, a small crowd of protesters formed a gauntlet outside the door, booing the agents and chanting, "our medicine is marijuana … listen to Obama!"

  2. Obama thinks the Drug War is a joke. He's a hypocrite, he fucking did coke in college and he still thinks marijuana is bad. I guess he was too good to be true.

  3. I am not surprised, its the only way agents know how to get free quality pot to keep their own personal stashes good!

  4. SCREW YOU, JORDAN. A President is not a king, and agencies do NOT always do what theyre directed to. Keep your dittohead shite outta here.

  5. I am pretty sure that the DEA falls under the authority od the Executive branch of the government. They derive their power to exercise force under federal laws, which are empowered by the states(9th &10th amendment)via the US constitution.

Technically these raids are unconstitutional, but so are alot things

So in short, Obama(administration) lied and you can't get high

  6. Hello Sheeple,
This is just another in the long line of abuse from the government. You notice how the statement was they would not interfere unless "insert excuse"
Fast Forward a week and they raid, whats the reason
"insert excuse" and on top of that, they act like they don't have to tell us why......OBAMA is a puppet of the Fed Reserve. Wake up

Tell me Anonymous, if Obama is not in charge.....just who in the hell is? Every major federal agency, of which the DEA is a part, is headed by a Presidential appointee, who is directly responsible to the President for his job, right on down the food chain. In short, if you are in DEA and stiff the President, you go home for good. Now I think that's pretty simple and the way it's always been. Now if Obama is not in charge, what does that say for our government....or for Obama?

I can't figure out if everyone who speaks as you do, is just plain stupid or whether you intentionally feed the already rampant ignorance that has been cultivated in this country by those already in power.

  10. Since when did any president ever have control over any agencies in our country ? And Obama is no different then any other president..he will bend to what his peers find exceptional

  11. If by bending to his peers, you mean his controllers, then I will agree with you but the idea that agencies are somehow doing their own thing, in violation of a Presidential decree is ludicrous! There is a big difference between an agency advancing an agenda under the radar of presidential indifference and a rogue agency directly opposed to a president's publicly stated policy and true desires. If you can provide an good example of such gross impudence, in direct violation of Presidential order, then I think you will greatly strengthen your case. I don't believe you will find it.
There is a very strong case, in view of recent developments, for ineptitude within his administration, if not in Obama himself. There is the possibility that they just don't know what the hell they are doing.
I think the truth is, that Obama is the figurehead of a shadow government that has been pulling the strings of presidents for 90 years or so, with increasingly centralized power. As well as the fact that despite his very short time in office, Obama has proven to be long on promise and very short on the act. I wouldn't put much face in CHANGE if I were you.

  12. I called it. Recently, in fact. Not that the Obama supporter I was addressing was listening.

He'll probably make some more excuses for or dear leader.

  13. I respect Obama and though I understand he chooses reasons to play down the issue of “immoral” drug use, I believe he should have shown some respect to the issue and use the same meaningful insight and common sense honesty that he was elected for. During the inauguration Obama chose to highlight the Presidency of Abraham Lincoln a man who led this country through one of its most divisive times. The civil war was remarkable because it pitted brother against brother and displayed to history the inhumane brutality that Americans are capable of inflicting on one another when they fall on opposing sides of a powerful ideology. There are a lot of similarities between the war on drugs and that “civil” war of old. The war on drugs American has once again pitted American against American in a battle of suffering, divisiveness and bloodshed. We as Americans need to exercise our collective control of government and call, email or write a representative and by doing so make the drug war an issue that has to be dealt with now rather than a lingering one to be laughed off and prolonged as long as it is politically prudent to do so.

  14. Cannabis has been used for about 4,000 years for medical purposes. In Taiwan about 10,000 years ago the people of that country used marijuana for fiber. It’s important to mention that it’s not the social threat authorities believe it to be. On http://medicalpot.com . you can find out more about the wide range of medical applications of pot in treating diseases such as convulsions, asthma, anxiety, nausea, vomiting, schizophrenia.

  15. @Harold Fowler - I highly doubt the reason for these busts is so the agents can smoke it themselves.  Come on, get realistic...pot's not THAT cool.

@Jordan - Just because somebody did something in the past does not mean that person cannot change their mind, opinion, morals at a later time.  I also don't get the feeling Obama thinks marijuana is necessarily "bad".  You have to understand that being the first black president in the history of the United States, he has certain expectations to uphold.  For years, people in comedy have joked about how the first black president would be playing hip hop and having wild house parties in the White House.  Now, how do you think it would look if the first black president was the one to legalize marijuana?  It would make him look like a joke, whether or not his intentions were good.
