Why Do We Get Riled Up About Scott Brown's Re-crim Bill?

Because it criminalizes people in this video below. Marci Duda, a grandmother that testified that she lost her two sisters to the same condition that she has. Migraines, seizures, brain aneurysms. Her sisters didn't use medical marijuana. She credits cannabis with saving her life and allowing her to enjoy pain free time with her family. Marci's a grandmother and a great person. She's been at the state house testifying on this for years. Hearing after hearing. And there's still a question about this?

A new bill is proposed that goes against the 65% who voted for decrim. The bill would punish people like Marci and myself, medical users for simply being in possession in a car. Even if we are not under the influence. I obey all OUI laws and never drive under the influence. This is not about public safety as the Senator's staff wrote to many of our supporters, it's about criminalizing all marijuana in the car, where 90% of the arrests for cannabis took place in the past prior to decrim. And this time with a higher fine. Medical user or not, under the influence or not. Re-criminalizing medical users.

Several hundred RSVP's on two facebook events for the protest

It is not that we are attacking Senator Scott Brown, he's attacking us by his action of sponsoring a bad bill, that we don't want.

And a point to even note is that I support Senator Scott Brown on some issues like the Mass Pike.

Our goal is not to attack Mr. Brown but to give him an opportunity to gain some new supporters. The answer isn't going to come from me or anybody that posts on facebook or here. We've already made it clear. We care about this. I thank you for doing that and for being willing to protest on the 31st.

In the end, for the State Senator it comes down to "what are you doing to help Marci Duda get the medicine that she needs with no legal entrapment, arrest?" That's all we care about and why this is important.

And that is your opportunity here, Senator Brown.

"To actually help people who are in pain and need this medicine" as Republican NJ State Senator Bill Barone said a few weeks ago.

A couple of people implied that the protest wasn't important or not a good idea.

The greater majority are telling me that they want this to happen.

Please contact your MA state reps using NORML's capwiz email your elected officials system. Takes two seconds to let your MA state reps know that you support medical marijuana. I just sent mine. Easy.
