  1. The DEA guy's point about the drugs costing the same whether they're through the drug cartels or legalized is completely ridiculous. It doesn't matter if it costs more, less OR the same, because there would be a tax on it to generate domestic revenue.

  2. NEW YORK MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION MOVEMENT

The marijuana legalization movement in New York is pressing the issue in Albany. Many are pushing to get legislators to pass a medical marijuana bill, but Abigail Storm, Director of C.A.M.P. Citizens Against Marijuana Prohibition, says that's still a violation of people's rights. Her organization makes it clear that the government is committing a crime against the people by perpetuating a lie that marijuana is a danger to public health and safety.

In order for a drug to be on the schedule 1 list it must have no medical value and have a high potential for abuse. Now that many scientific experiments have shown that concentrated doses of THC will kill cancer cells and stop tumors from growing, it is beginning to look like this may be the most powerful medicine in the world. The federal government owns a patent on cannabinoid medicine being used as an anti-inflamitory, and indeed it is the most effective arthritis treatment yet known. The medicinal value having been proven many times over and the potential for abuse idea resting on the belief that regular use is somehow abuse, there is every reason to pull marijuana from the list.

With an emphasis on the natural healing properties of cannabis flowers and the unjust persecution of harmless marijuana users, Storm and her supporters are asking Governor Paterson to protect people's right to grow their own and to release all marijuana prisoners. "It's planting time," says Storm, "and the police in New York State should be focusing on real crimes like corruption." Abigail says that God created marijuana and every other plant to be a benefit to humankind and the world. She says that the Medical Marijuana bill that is being proposed in the Senate is too restrictive and under the Constitutional Law, no police officer has a right to arrest a grower or user for simply possessing marijuana. Taxing and regulating sale of marijuana would be more appropriate, but setting the prisoners free is a top priority. When asked if she thinks it will be legalized soon, she says it's already legally protected by the Constitution and the police who enforce the marijuana laws are the ones committing a crime.
