Carmelita sent this to me and it breaks my heart that dogs like this are being abandoned nationwide. Please forward this, facebook, twitter, re-blog. Let's try to save Dino, before it's to late, he only has a few more days. Initially, tomorrow was the last day to make arrangements to adopt him but they are going to give him a few more days. Should have some video to post of him tomorrow. If I could adopt another dog, Dino would have a home in a quick second.
“Dino” (A249689), 5 year-old boxer/bullmastiff mix is in dire need of rescue! Please network.
“Dino” (A249689) was turned in to the Pasadena Humane Society by his owners on May 5th. He has had a really tough time adapting to life in a shelter, so he needs to get out ASAP.
Dino’s family surrendered Dino to us after five years because they “didn’t want him any more”. They said that Dino is housebroken and good with people. He was kept inside, and the only negative thing that they had to say about him was that he was aggressive towards people in uniform.
Dino presents as very shy initially, but warms up to people fairly quickly. He has been doing well with the volunteers that go to visit him and they’ve really noticed a dramatic difference in him over the last few days. He would barely come out of his den at first, but today he comes right up to the front of the kennel when people he knows come by. He loves going to the play yard, where he sniffs around but checks in with the handler frequently. He comes right over and nudges your hand to get some scratches, and then on to explore some more. He walks very well on leash- he trots along, but doesn’t pull, and he responds well to corrections.
Dino has made some significant progress here, but he needs to get out to a real home soon. He would probably do best as the only dog, but may be OK with a more submissive friend.
Dino is neutered, and up-to-date on his vaccines. He is slightly overweight at 83 pounds. He has an old hematoma on one ear, giving him a cauliflower-ear look.
We have been asked to get a commitment for this gentle giant by May 29th.
