As if we needed any more proof that the government funded war on drugs is an utter failure. But check this out. Have you noticed some of the google ads that have been appearing on MikeCann.net? Get a free marijuana booklet? The federal government indirectly funding the work of MikeCann.net.
If I tell you to click them, I risk losing my google advertising rights but just think for every click that's one dollar of your tax money actually going to a website that isn't spinning government propaganda.
I wonder are they advertising on High Times and 420.com too?

I have a marijuana blog as well, and they have the same propaganda on my google ads as well! There's no escaping it, but as I'm sure you've seen within the past couple of years, the tides are slowly turning in our direction.

ReplyDeleteThey seem to pay well to compared to the regular google ads. Sadly I haven't seen any of their ads today. Just when I was hoping to retire on the govt's free ride they yank it away.

ReplyDeleteThe power and money behind prohibition has deep pockets. They are willing to spend almost any amount on getting their views across. The dominoes are set to fall with them when Cannabis is legal. They will have to jump on board or lose a huge amount of money. They know that. Every day that the law has not been reversed is a plus day for them.

ReplyDeleteBecause google ads pay the best? Yep. And they are paying for the 1000 MikeCann.net buttons we have to give out for free. Every show, march, hearing, interview you see me at I'm handing them out and doing ads on myspace, yahoo, facebook, that is if they accept the ads, facebooks has but the other two I'm still waiting on. The prohibitionists are paying for our advertising and besides anybody that comes here often is smart enough to know that there aren't many left that still buy into the prohibitionist fairy tale world anymore, none but the Dick Cheney's of the world. If they want to pay for me to advertise some truth better than what's been going out!

ReplyDeleteI know that they are posting on 420.com too. I followed the one about the "Marijuana Pamphlet" and was actually able to read it. All I can say is that it is filled with lies. They just spout the same prohibition rhetoric that hasn't changed for decades. You know, the stuff that has been refuted countless times by scientists, doctors, economists, and thankfully some politicians.
ReplyDeleteThey also had a series of videos where they show "how a person's life can be ruined" by drugs. I admit that harder drugs can lead to serious problems but that line of thinking doesn't hold true for marijuana. The video they had about weed centered on the "Gateway drug" myth. Take marijuana out of the blackmarket and you no longer risk being exposed to harder stuffs.
I have to admit that nothing agrivates me more then when prohibitionists disguise outright lies or conjecture as "facts".

Does it bother you or make you happy that 420.com is getting some revenue from that click? I love it! Better to 420.com and some truth than some Scared Dare BS.

ReplyDeleteI couldn't be happier that they are getting the revenue! Like you said, no one who intently comes to these sites will be swayed by that nonsense.

ReplyDeleteYou can control the Google ads that appear on your website, man, by using the "<span><span style="font-weight: bold;">Competitive Ad Filter"</span></span>. If you don't want to publish ads by prohibitionists you just add them to an exclude list. We've done that a couple of time.

ReplyDeleteI did that in the beginning but what's the point? Some always get through and the biggest thing is I don't really care. I just think it is funny, that the prohibitionist are funding this site. I look at it as finally the money is at least helping get some truth out there. It's our tax money, better to 420.com and myself than the reefer mad.

ReplyDeleteAnd it also helps us keep track of what they are up to! And directs our people to post some truth on those sites. Many of them do allow comments, often heavily moderated. But the ones that do, 99% are folks like us telling the truth about their lies.

ReplyDeleteAnti-pot spam from the Government means bureaucrats are paid to troll the internet for likely cannabis candidates and spend time and resources infiltrating the system.
ReplyDeleteA great compliment for all your dedicated activism. Well done Mike, keep them watching.
