Two Marijuana Legalization Ballot Initiatives Filed In California But Leaders With Marijuana Reform Orgs Show Lukewarm Support

"Two Marijuana Legalization Ballot Initiatives Filed In California" ; Stopthedrugwar.org

The comments below? You be the judge.

"We're concerned about the timing and we're not sure it's the best worded initiative," said Dan Bernath, assistant communications director for the Marijuana Policy Project.

"It is getting the conversation about marijuana policy reform going, but we're concerned it could set the movement back if it loses. We're more interested in Ammiano's bill," he said.

I count three "hits" and one "that a boy" in that quote.

They should be jumping for joy. One thing to be cautious but downplaying the significance of that ballot initiative? It's going to be huge win or lose. And I think it's going to win.

"We're more interested in Ammiano's bill"?

Go Richard "Oaksterdam" Lee.

  1. no kidding, last time I checked Ammiano's bill had no co-sponsors and a snowball's chance in hell of passing.  It also doesn't do anything unless the feds allow it which they won't.

Which of course means another project that national groups can stretch out and work on for 20 more years.

The reality is, if Lee's referendum passes MPP could quickly become rendered totally irrelevant.  The cannabis industry could easily take their show to other states & run legalization referendums to open new markets.
