"A short film produced by Three on the Tree and directed by Danny Clinch about PJ's new album "Backspacer" with band interviews and performance footage. "Backspacer" available September 20th. Available worldwide September 21."

Kill my love/hate relationship with Pearl Jam. If they or Ed ever come on down to the Boston Freedom Rally or really champion marijuana reform, it will be love/love again. I'm a sell out for the cause, what can I say. It doesn't hurt that I do like the music.

And to say I hate them is to strong. I just don't love them as much anymore. The lack of seeing them speak out for marijuana reform or really anything beyond carbon credits and "Bush is a bad man" makes them just like the rest. When they fought Ticketmaster? Now that was epic and something that I will always hold up as being worthwhile and a big sacrifice for them. I know they raise big dollars for charity and still fight for free speech and human rights, but to often it seems to me they are now politically a "play it safe" band. Most professional, big name music acts are exactly that. It's all about the $.

Sometimes I just don't get why they don't do the little things for the more difficult issues that are out there. Marijuana reform for instance. Wildly popular with the voters and PEARL JAM fans. Eddie has been known to smoke but they aren't out front or teaming up with NORML or MPP on this. Why not?

But for a time they were a band that really did give a shit. They still do but the priorities have changed?

New CD Sept. 20th? Boston Freedom Rally, Sept. 19th? Do something unexpected? Do something just for the sake of doing it, because it's the right thing to do? To create something that didn't exist before? For freedom and human rights. For the volunteers that put this event on, the biggest of it's kind on the east Coast, run 100% by unpaid volunteers.

Come on Eddie Vedder, 20th Annual Boston Freedom Rally? You lost WBCN to play your new music in Boston, this will be bigger, something folks in Boston and around the country will remember forever.

I know I'm supposed to call the gatekeepers so they can say no. Or to do it this way, the more direct way.

We can keep it a secret until the day of the festival.

You might think this a desperate plea but it's not because I have Graveyard BBQ, Prospect Hill, Termanology, Keep Me Conscious on the bill.

It's a suggestion. And one that you would thank me for later, Mr. Vedder. If you were ever to say yes to being on the Boston Common main stage at 4:20PM on Sat. Sept. 19th, 2009.

"The Fixer" thats me.

Step me back, show up, drop my jaw and make my hairs stand on end.
