Steven S. Epstein
This is the twentieth year that the Massachusetts Cannabis Reform Coalition hosts the Boston Freedom Rally, a political protest against the insanity of which cannabis prohibition is but a symptom.
Our Freedom Rally began a year before organizers at the western end of Interstate 90 held their first event, an event they call the Seattle Hempfest.
Confusion between the signature names of the two events is unfortunate, as you can see from the 1994 videos captioned by a well-intentioned videographer.
At the Freedom Rally on the Boston Common on Saturday (9/19/2009) we celebrate the FREEDOM RALLY’s role in the modest increase in FREEDOM the decriminalization of an ounce or less of cannabis accomplished. At this FREEDOM RALLY, we renew our effort to emancipate the state, the nation and ourselves from the collective insanity preventing each of us from enjoying our right to seek and obtain our safety and happiness.
So please, when referring to our event use our proper name, FREEDOM RALLY, because it always has been about more than hemp.
