Mass Patients call for Governor Patrick to not pass the buck!

PRESS CONFERENCE
WHERE:
Massachusetts State House
Room 350
Beacon Street
Boston, MA 02108

WHAT:  Medical marijuana patients and advocates will be holding a press conference to express frustration with the Patrick administration for failure to implement the medical marijuana law, and to plead with him to help suffering patients before he leaves office.

WHEN:  Monday, September 22, 11:00 am.
Boston, MA- Medical marijuana patients, family members, and advocates will be gathering for a press conference in Room 350 at the Massachusetts State House. Patients suffering from conditions such as cancer, MS, seizure disorder, and severe chronic pain will explain how they have been disappointed while indicating exactly how the administration can fix the situation if compassion for patients is truly a priority for Governor Deval Patrick.

The press conference comes on the heels of an article published today by Globe columnist Scot Lehigh, in which Massachusetts Patient Advocacy Alliance (MPAA) Executive Director Matt Allen unleashed a litany of complaints against Patrick for his failure to fulfill the voters’ mandate by implementing the medical marijuana law. In the article, Allen said “There is so much the administration could have done to move things forward. At this point, with the lack of movement, I think it is politics. The perception is that it would be more convenient for them to slow walk this until the governor gets out of office.”

MPAA is a coalition of medical marijuana patients, their family members, medical professionals, and public health groups advocating for safe access to medical marijuana for patients with a doctor's recommendation. MPAA led the effort to bring the medical marijuana ballot initiative to the voters, and has since been working to ensure that patients have a voice in implementation.
